Engineering Development Ambassadors (EDA)
EDA is a campus club that focuses on serving the local community, promoting engineering ideas and innovation, and acting as role models for K–12 students. The club organizes volunteering events throughout the Baton Rouge community, such as Ocean Commotion on LSU’s campus, STEM nights, and outreach at the Louisiana Art & Science Museum. In addition, there are smaller opportunities to promote engineering innovation in K–12 schools, including classroom demonstrations and tutoring sessions for STEM classes through Math Mondays.
EDA also hosts professional development meetings with industry leaders from companies such as Exxon, DOW, and Shell. These events provide valuable networking opportunities, insight into real-world applications of engineering, and lessons on professional topics such as finance, career paths, and problem-solving in industry.

Outreach & Leadership with EDA
EDA’s past exhibit at Ocean Commotion event
I volunteered at the annual Ocean Commotion event held in the PMAC, which introduces K-8 students to Louisiana’s coast and environment through interactive exhibits. EDA’s booth featured a water filtration model demonstrating how clean water processes. Drawing on concepts from environmental engineering and fluid mechanics, the model illustrated basic filtration and flow principles. My contribution involved assisting with the teardown and cleanup after the event — emptying water from the displays, cleaning the surrounding area, and organizing materials back into storage.
EDA’s exhibit at LSU’s Super Science Saturday
I volunteered at LSU’s Super Science Saturday, an outreach event for K-12 students that promotes interest in science through interactive, hands-on experiments. As part of the Engineering Development Ambassadors (EDA), our team demonstrated two experiments: non-Newtonian fluids and elephant toothpaste. I applied concepts learned in engineering coursework to translate complex ideas, such as fluid behavior under stress and chemical reaction rates. My responsibilities included assisting with setup, performing the elephant toothpaste demonstration for students, parents, and teachers, and helping with cleanup and teardown once the event concluded.
I will serve as a math tutor with EDA’s Math Mondays program this Spring semester, providing paid academic support to K-12 students in mathematics. I will assist students with homework, quizzes, and upcoming exams by explaining concepts step-by-step and reinforcing problem-solving strategies to build confidence and improve mathematical understanding.
